Executive Summary
Founded in 2007, Rushford Hypersonic Particle Deposition and Coating Technologies
Corporation LLC’s (Rushford Hypersonic) mission is to find practical applications for
commercialization of Nano-Particle Film deposition based upon using Hypersonic Plasma
Particle Film Deposition (HPPD) Patents # 5874134, etc. and Hypersonic Plasma Particle
Focused Beam HPPD Deposition held by the University of Minnesota. These processes provide
a variety of coating technologies which are harder, denser, and more fracture resistant and
less heat generative than standard Carbide coatings used in the industrial
tooling industry today.
Rushford Hypersonic uses the Hall-Petch Effect (“it is well known that the fracture stress
and hardness of a poly crystalline material increases as the grain size decreases”) generated
by the HPPD process to coat and sell industrial tooling. It is also used to develop coating applications for
materials that can benefit from the improved hardness and friction reduction that this process
offers over standard industrial carbide tooling and other coatings used today in machine tooling
and coating applications. There are many other sub-micron sized applications that can utilize
these coating technologies that will be further developed in the next phase of commercialization
of these processes.
Rushford Hypersonic is a rural based Minnesota company with an international
focus that is ran and operated locally in Rushford, Minnesota.
